Buena Vista is a beautiful small mountain town sitting at 8,000 feet at the base of Mount Princeton, 14,197 feet. Approximately 2,200 people live in Buena Vista, Colorado.
During the summer, Buena Vista sees a huge influx of people due to its presence on the Arkansas River which is one of the most popular rivers in the world for white water rafting. Guides and customers come from all around the world to see the beautiful and gnarly stretches of river called the Numbers, Brown's Canyon, Parkdale, and the Royal Gorge.
Also during the summer, many peak baggers come to Buena Vista because of its close proximity to so many of Colorado's fourteen thousand-foot peaks. Chaffee County has more fourteeners than any other county in the country and Buena Vista sits in the heart of this beautiful county.
In the winter, Buena Vista is about an hour from both Monarch Ski Area and Copper Mountain Resort. You can also enjoy backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, and shoeshowing. |
