 Denver, Colorado's capital, sits on the edge of the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Approximately 2.4 million people live in the metro area and it is the largest city in the Mountain Time Zone and also the 10th largest metro area in the country.
Denver has grown out of its cowtown days and now is a major thriving metropolitan area with shopping, theatres, a university, numerous restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
Denver hosts one of the best libraries in the country, the Denver Public Library with its main branch close to the downtown area. Denver is also home to many major league sporting teams, the Denver Broncos football team who play at Invesco Field, the Avalanche hockey team who play at the Pepsi Center, the Denver Nuggets who also play at the Pepsi Center, and the Rockies baseball team who play at Coors Field. Denver has numerous museums and galleries, the most famous being the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Denver also has a zoo and a children's art museum for anyone with children. In addition, Denver is home to one of our nation's only two mints which you can take a tour of. Denver is easy to get to by air with its state of the art airport, Denver International Airport (DIA), which was built to resemble Denver's neighboring mountains. |
